ImakMy wife keeps on complaining to me before about the pain she feels on her wrist. It radiates to her forearm even to her whole hand. I thought this is just about lack of stretching some muscles or she may have just over used her hand because she usually works in her computer more than 8 hours a day. I thought that maybe it is related to her pregnancy.

But I worried when I read about certain medical condition called Carpal Tunnel Syndrome that occurs when the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the hand, becomes pressed or squeezed at the wrist. This will result to pain, paresthesias, and muscle weakness in the forearm and hand. There are only few treatments for CTS but just a temporary relief for pain. Surgery will be needed if there will be a persistent pain and numbness. Aside from that, it is costly and you will need months of rest before can do your usual activity once again.

For now, we are working on its prevention. Luckily, there is an available wrist splint such as the IMAK® SmartGlove®. This will serve as carpal tunnel relief and by encouraging proper hand and wrist position, muscle relaxation and exercise will help prevent Carpal Tunnel Syndrome from developing in the future.

I will try to use this also because I work on computers, too. We all know how important our hands in blogging. So an ounce of prevention is still better than a pound of cure.
