Stressed Out

Posted by Suplado | 7/29/2008 | 0 comments »

“I’M SO STRESSED OUT!”, Ayoko na… burnt-out nako!” These claims are just too common these days that it’s easy to feel numb about them already. As we live in an era where things are supposed to be “easier”, faster, more convenient and hi-tech, it is ironic that people appear less secure and more stressed-out. Worry and fear became more prevalent— and anxiety, the reaction to the presence of stress, became an epidemic among us, modern men.

I myself am guilty of missing to live a healthy lifestyle at times but I am practicing to be. I am on natural juices and a little exercise. And so far they are working. I remember I have an aunt working as medical assistant in a doctor’s clinic where it happened to be our family doctor also at that time. I will never forget every time we’d have our check ups, she’d have to dig into our medical records in a big cabinet where it was arranged alphabetically. Our medical records were just hand written by our doctor in a band paper.

Imagine that. Because I was a regular patient that time being so sickly during my younger years, my record was in thick papers. But since they’re just hand written and our doctor transferred his clinic three times, some of them were lost and some of them cannot be read anymore.

This is unlike what I have been seeing today on my son’s pediatrician. She is equipped with computers where every time my son has to go for immunization and regular check ups. All of his records are kept inside the computer. If you will go to ask for immunization and other medical records she will just print it.

Doctors become more tech conscious nowadays. They already have their Personal Digital Assistant or Smartphone or medical PDA software such as of Epocrates Inc. Now physicians can immediately access their patient’s record through these gadgets. I remember we were on vacation because it was a holiday and usually doctors don’t have their clinics and my son got sick all we have to do is to call her for her advised we were lucky because she accommodate us even she is on vacation too. She immediately accesses our son’s records and gives us advise on what to do over the telephone.

Even though she has a lot of patients, she has all the information on her hand by just a click away all of their patient latest information are there, needed to make prescribing decisions, such as drug dosing, drugs allergy, and others of patient’s previous medical records.

Visit www.epocrates.com for the available products for the physicians to use, such as free medical pocket PC software, free medical Palm software, and free medical Windows Mobile software. Now there is even available downloadable guide for I-phone devices which you can now access your Epocrates online drug reference which can be accessed from any Internet-connected desktop.

This announcement was paid for by Epocrates:

I was just happy that my DSL connection is now fixed. I’ve been observing my newly restored DSL connection lately after more than two months of long suffering and hundreds of dollars in losses. The rebate they offered was not enough to compensate the total amount I lost. I cannot apply to other Internet Service Providers because I signed a one year lock up period with my present ISP. Aside from that, since I am also having problem with my DSL connection, I have been already scouting for possible ISP provider but because of some horrible experiences I read from other subscribers of other ISP in the country, I thought it is better just to sacrifice than sacrifice more.

Hoping that there will be new player that will that will give us better internet service someday and a government agency that will protect, preserve and uphold consumer welfare act for the betterment of the internet industry and its consumers in the country.

ImakMy wife keeps on complaining to me before about the pain she feels on her wrist. It radiates to her forearm even to her whole hand. I thought this is just about lack of stretching some muscles or she may have just over used her hand because she usually works in her computer more than 8 hours a day. I thought that maybe it is related to her pregnancy.

But I worried when I read about certain medical condition called Carpal Tunnel Syndrome that occurs when the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the hand, becomes pressed or squeezed at the wrist. This will result to pain, paresthesias, and muscle weakness in the forearm and hand. There are only few treatments for CTS but just a temporary relief for pain. Surgery will be needed if there will be a persistent pain and numbness. Aside from that, it is costly and you will need months of rest before can do your usual activity once again.

For now, we are working on its prevention. Luckily, there is an available wrist splint such as the IMAK® SmartGlove®. This will serve as carpal tunnel relief and by encouraging proper hand and wrist position, muscle relaxation and exercise will help prevent Carpal Tunnel Syndrome from developing in the future.

I will try to use this also because I work on computers, too. We all know how important our hands in blogging. So an ounce of prevention is still better than a pound of cure.

How to Increase Page Rank

Posted by Suplado | 7/23/2008 | | 0 comments »

PageRank wikipedia defined: is a link analysis algorithm that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of “measuring” its relative importance within the set.And it is believed that A page that is linked to by many pages with high PageRank receives a high rank itself. If there are no links to a web page there is no support for that page.

I know there are a few bloggers out there who do not believe in PageRank anymore. I’m not quite sure as to why. Maybe it’s a defense mechanism because their blogs don’t have a PR or they have been slapped by Google where their present PR dropped or was back to zero. Or maybe they just don’t care because anyway they don’t monetize their blogs. Perhaps to them, they believe that as long as they are writing good articles and still receive visitors, PR could not be that important.

Alzheimer's Memory Walk

Posted by Suplado | 7/22/2008 | | 0 comments »

Alzheimer’s is a slowly progressive and fatal brain disease which seriously affects a person’s ability to carry out daily activities. As many as 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease. This disease does not only affect the person concern but also greatly affects his whole family. This can be saddest thing in life when there is somebody you love and shared time of our life could no longer recognize you anymore. I have been able to manage patients with Alzheimer’s and it really takes a lot of explanation to the family since his awareness at that time is low compared to previously.

Unlike today awareness campaigns like that of Alzheimer's Memory Walk® is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. This looks for volunteers to become champions in the fight against Alzheimer's via walks in more than 600 communities. A typical Memory Walk is a 2-3 mile walk which will be held on a weekend morning in the fall.

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.”

My Neighbor Visitors

Posted by Suplado | 7/19/2008 | | 0 comments »

I was distracted lately by those people that keep on coming back on my neighbors unit. I thought they are just friends or relatives who never thought or know that my neighbors had already vacated his units and transferred already.

Then lately I know it was from a commercial collection agencies’ full-service debt collection agency responsible for the collections of certain credit cards and lending companies receivables.

Maybe they are responsible of those numbers of demand and credit cards letter already accumulated on my neighbor’s letter box.

Our country is an excellent source of professionals with 1,181 colleges and universities that offer graduate and post-graduate degrees. Our country is also surrounded by 1,276 schools that offer vocational and technical training.

On the other hand, having 700,000 new college graduates every year results to an additional 11 percent unemployment increasing every year. The reason of this is that the economy cannot create enough jobs to accommodate newly graduates from their field of expertise.

Statistics show that there are some 2.5 million students enrolled at the tertiary (college) level. Of these, over 300,000 are enrolled in medical and health-related courses. Over 400,000 are taking engineering and computer science courses. Only 60% of graduates can work but half of those are not regular jobs and not related from their courses. The 20 percent shifted to other courses and others took post graduate courses just to have a job after.

Imagine the time you wasted in school and yet you can’t get a better job after graduation. Take me for example. I am a registered nurse and yet working and earning money without using my entire four years in nursing school maybe in some fields. But if I will be given a chance I will try to get Cisco certification because opportunity and career-wise, you can have better job with better money in this. See how global demand is growing for IT professionals. As we all know, internet and connections to world wide web are important to the whole world. This is a large part of the reason why many world’s multinationals companies run by computers and internet.

Can you imagine the world without internet today? Visit Cisco website and you will see the greater opportunity. Read personal stories of lucky Cisco certified people and see how they captured the world.

Bloggers exchange links to each other to be able to increase their ranks on the web pages. But for me sharing links is like extending your hands of friendship to other people. I think about this famous friendship quote:

“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.”

My Son Bling’s Friend

Posted by Suplado | 7/16/2008 | , | 0 comments »

My son Kyle loves to play games on the computer especially RPG rule playing games. As a matter of fact I used it as a reward for him to study his lessons from school. If he is able to do some very good task like writing and studying, he will be rewarded with allowable time to play this game.

Luckily, dungeonrunners.com has free game MMORPG available to download and play. A fantasy game in a fantasy world in a the dark and stinky dungeon where you are going to fight with those beasts and giants with your weapon. In here you will discover the fantasy place in a magical world with a cute, funny and hip hop sidekick Bling Gnome that follows you wherever you go.

My son already imitated the way he woohoo! and yeeehaaaa. Everytime he converts all the dropped items and turn them into gold and poop out powerful item. He even wanted to have Bling Gnome because it is free with every purchase of Dungeon Runners. He wanted to personalize it as what he did to his favorite doll.

His friend that he always wanted to be in his side dressed up like a rapper with blings, chain, hat and silver jewels. I told him not to worry. After all, it will be his reward if you will able have better grades in school.

This is a simple procedure. You might have seen it done elsewhere on a few scarce weblogs. What is different, is that when we reach a certain point on the list, we start yet another one. Instead of one master list and its done, we will repeat the process over and over again, with new folks jumping on board. These backlinks combined with the social networking friends status will affect all areas of search engine algorithims. -=This List Will Stop At 100, then the next phase will start=-

She Blogs

She’s back on her track again.

I am just happy that my wife is writing again after more than four years of hiatus due to busy office work and taking care of our family especially on our son Kyle.

Writing is really her domain. She used to be editor-in-chief and associate editor of the school paper in her high school and college days respectively.

In between her day job many years after, I know that she has been a contributing writer to various local magazines and newspapers as well. I could see her name in some of them when we were oceans apart and still friends. She also was a former Business Editor of Launch Asia Magazine, a publication circulating in Asia Pacific until both she and her friend (the paper’s editor in chief) decided to respond to “their calling” so the paper had to take the back seat.

I am very proud for having a wife like her. She writes really good articles, (just don’t encourage her to do so, just don’t set a deadline and she will write). She writes only when her mood strikes (I’m not the only one saying this --- go ask her Effective Writing professor) and that’s why she doesn’t like to be a regular writer of a publication.

Convincing her to write again and to start blogging is not easy either. I have to prove it first to her that my blog site is worth her while. When time allows, she edits most of my blogs (Suplado online, Suplado’s world and Suplado.com) and articles. I am not as good as a writer than she is but I know that my article looks better and have better sense if she edits it.

I am proud to say that she finally started blogging and I hope to read more from her in the future. Visit My Wife’s Journal and Memos to MySelf and read to yourself the writings of a great writer.

Worldwide Sports and Travel

Posted by Suplado | 7/11/2008 | , | 0 comments »

I can’t deny the fact that I am a sports fanatic. Just as my whole family is a sports fanatics as well. For me, games like basketball, boxing and tennis among others are my favorites to watch. But to watch the game live is something different from watching it on TV. You can’t explain the feeling of being there where the action is as it happens.

I am sure that’s the feeling also of those people who prefer to watch certain sports live. You will really feel the heat, the adrenaline and the unexplainable delight upon hearing the cheering of people for your favorite players on the act. People sometimes spend a lot just to watch near the ring or the court. Others even travel just to be able to see the game live.

Luckily, there is the Worldwide Sports Travel now that offers service to those sports fanatics who want to watch their favorite sports live in United Kingdom or even in other parts of the world. Whatever your sporting requirement needs are --- from the sport tickets venue, quality tickets in whatever sitting area you want ---- the company just doesn’t offer ticket. Worldwide Sport Travel is into worldwide ticket and hotel service. So you don’t have a problem anymore in finding a convenient place or slot while watching your favorite sports anywhere in the world.

Visit www.worldwidesportstravel.com and find yourself the scheduled and placed near your favorite sports or players as the company will do all the rest with all the hospitality packages you can avail of.

Housing Foreclosure Problem

Posted by Suplado | 7/10/2008 | , | 0 comments »

My friends in the US are now working so hard since almost half of their monthly income go to their monthly house amortization. As we all know, thousands of houses are about to be foreclosed by the banks or any institution where they have housing loans.

Thousands of families have done anything to avoid foreclosure and keep their hard earned investment in homes. But because of the present problem in global banks which affect millions of borrowers, houses are at risk not only in the US but in the whole world. We’re lucky if we could refinance it at more favorable terms but as of now prices still continue to drop. People turn to foreclosure prevention service companies.

My Son’s Textbooks

Posted by Suplado | 7/04/2008 | , | 0 comments »

You know what I love about my son attending pre-school? It’s that they are provided with their own new and updated textbooks imported from United States. This is because the curriculum of the school is based on American style of pre-school.

I remember when I was in elementary studying in a government school (I am not degrading my school and I am even proud of it that I came from) where we were using the same old textbooks as before. These are the same text books my uncles and aunts were using during their time. I was just happy that the government now has allocated fund for new textbook government school.
